Hi, I am involved in a restart up of a preschool/elementary/jr high/high school youth group. Not kidding. Most of these kids are coming from the same apt complex. Poor and mostly minority. We are splitting the group so H.S.ers come a different night.
Anyway, God really seemed to have His hand on this ministry. At the same time my husband (Asst. priest) and I were starting a "little" youth ministry for the few kids that attended a free dinner (many homeless), a young Christian man from apts nearby decided God led him to bring kids from his apt complex to the same location (bldg behind our church), same night, same time (started one wk apart, neither of us knowing). So our little group quickly turned into a group w/ an age range of 4-16 yrs old with upwards of 50 a night!
God obviously cares for these kids a lot as many such miracles have occurred.
Anyway, I'm new to this type of ministry for the most part (though I went to Bible college and grew up in a neighborhood very much like this).
I was wondering if anyone knows of a good curriculum for urban ministry. I found tasty faith, which I love and plan to use. I was also wondering if there were any other lessons like this for urban ministry. My husband is not just Assistant to the Dean but also Assistant to the Bishop! He has very little time to develop a lesson every wk. We also are splitting the group into 4 groups (under H.S. age) and will have several different lessons.
Anything else like Tasty faith (urban) out there? Thanks.
